How it presents

Symptom

Express 250 ground-fault trip under rain, wash-down, or wet holster — Cloud Faulted and local GF latch may refuse clear until the moisture path is proven dry. chargepoint field note: keep evidence scrubbed and prove the ranked cause before module RMA on CP-E250-GF.

Root causes (by observed frequency)

1. #1 Moisture bridging GF sensing at dispenser holster, cable boot, or cabinet seam

   Most common after storms or pressure washing

2. #2 Damaged EV cable insulation or contaminated CCS pins holding a leakage path
3. #3 Site PE / bonding high resistance causing nuisance trips under load

4. #4 Failed GF sensing module after repeated wet clears

Diagnostic procedure

1. 1. Photograph HMI/Cloud GF string, note weather, and whether trip is at plug-in or mid-session

   Expected: Exact fault + weather context

   Tools: phone

2. 2. LOTO feeder; dry holster, cable boots, and enclosure seams before any reset spam

   Expected: No standing water; seals intact

   Tools: rags, light

3. 3. Verify PE continuity pedestal-to-panel before a single protective reset

   Expected: Low-ohm PE path

   Tools: DMM

4. 4. Known-good cable/vehicle prove on the failing dispenser after dry

   Expected: Holds ≥5 min charge

   Tools: known-good cable

5. 5. OEM GF path only if dry known-good still trips — do not defeat protection

   Tools: ChargePoint

Dry and prove PE first; replace GF sensing only after a dry known-good path still trips.

3. Confirm PE continuity; correct site bonding if open or high.
