Safety
Never bypass or defeat ground-fault protection to keep a stall available — repeated trips are a live-fault indicator until dry path and PE are proven good.
How it presents
Symptom
Schneider EVlink trips its ground-fault/residual-current protection during rain, wash-down, or shortly after cable handling, and the fault often recurs on reset in commercial installs where the EVSE shares a panel and bonding path with other loads. A trip that follows the cable when swapped, or that clears dry and holds, narrows the cause quickly before an electrician is called for panel-level bonding work.
Root causes (by observed frequency)
- #1 Moisture at the cable, connector, or enclosure seam bridging the ground-fault sensing path
Most common after storms or pressure washing; dry and inspect before any parts order
- #2 Site PE/bonding problem shared across the panel, surfacing as a nuisance trip under load
Ask whether other circuits on the same panel have also tripped recently
- #3 Damaged cable insulation exposing a conductor intermittently
Inspect the full cable length, including where it crosses curbs or wheel stops
- #4 Failed onboard ground-fault device after repeated wet trips have degraded it
Only replace after a dry, known-good-cable retest still trips
Diagnostic procedure
1. Dry the cable, connector, and enclosure, then perform a single reset
Expected: Trip does not recur immediately

2. Check PE continuity at the EVSE and panel bond, and ask whether other branch circuits on the same panel have tripped recently
Expected: Low-resistance PE path; no unrelated panel-wide trip history
Tools: DMM, electrician, panel notes
3. Swap in a known-good cable for a test session
Expected: Fault clears with the known-good cable

4. If dry trips persist with a known-good cable, coordinate with an electrician on panel-level bonding before ordering parts

5. Replace the OEM ground-fault module only after moisture, cable, and panel bonding are all ruled out

The fix
Moisture and panel bonding cause most trips; never bypass ground-fault protection, and treat the GF module swap as a last resort.

- Dry and seal the cable, connector, and enclosure path, replacing the cable if any insulation damage is found.
- Verify PE continuity and correct any site bonding issue with a qualified electrician before repeated resets.
- Perform a single protective reset and validate with a real session of at least five minutes.
- Replace the ground-fault module only if the fault still trips dry with a known-good cable and proven-good bonding, then revalidate and document the fix.
