Safety
Do not clear an isolation fault repeatedly into a wet connector — dry it first. LOTO required for any HV compartment access.
How it presents
Symptom
Alpitronic Hypercharger fails isolation during CableCheck on one connector, or occasionally across the whole cabinet, most often after rain, a cable swap, or overnight condensation. Because HYC300 modules share a common coolant loop, a wet or contaminated path on one gun can occasionally present as a broader isolation issue across the bank.
Root causes (by observed frequency)
- #1 Moisture or damaged cable insulation on the failing gun
Highest-frequency cause — always dry and swap cable before opening the cabinet.
- #2 Contaminated liquid-cooled quick-connect after a recent service visit
Coolant residue at the quick-connect can bridge isolation measurement on cooled-cable HYC units.
- #3 Shared coolant path contamination affecting the ISO measurement across multiple modules
HYC modules share coolant, so a wet path on one module can cascade into readings on neighboring modules.
- #4 ISO measurement board fault on the affected power path
Last resort — pursue only after a known-good cable fails dry.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Determine whether the fault is confined to one gun or affects the whole cabinet, and photograph the HMI and connector ID.
Expected: Fault is isolated to a named connector unless coolant contamination is cascading

2. Dry the connector and swap in a known-good cable, then retest CableCheck.
Expected: Fault clears with dry, known-good cable if moisture/cable was the cause
Tools: known-good cable, dry rags
3. Inspect the liquid-cooled quick-connects for coolant residue or leaks near the failing gun.
Expected: No visible coolant residue or leak at the quick-connect interface
Tools: flashlight, IR camera
4. Check shared coolant flow and temperature across the bank if more than one module shows isolation irregularities.
Expected: Flow and temperature within OEM spec across all modules

5. Escalate to Alpitronic OEM's isolation service path only after known-good cable and dry retest both fail.
Expected: OEM confirms a hardware-level ISO fault and issues a repair path

The fix
Prove cable and moisture first; treat shared coolant contamination as a possible cascade cause before condemning multiple modules.

- Lock out and tag out the affected gun if HV access is required, then dry the connector fully and swap in a known-good cable before drawing any conclusions about the cabinet.
- Inspect and, if needed, clean or reseal the liquid-cooled quick-connects, since coolant contamination at this interface is a known cause of isolation faults on cooled-cable Hypercharger units.
- If more than one module shows irregular isolation readings, check shared coolant flow and temperature across the bank before assuming independent module failures.
- Only after cable, connector, and coolant path are all proven clean should the ISO measurement assembly be replaced through Alpitronic's OEM channel, followed by a validated CableCheck and full session.
