LOTO before opening the cabinet for any ISO hardware work. Do not repeatedly clear an isolation fault into a wet connector — dry it first.
How it presents
Symptom
Autel MaxiCharger DC fails isolation/CableCheck on one connector while the peer port on the same dual-standard unit stays healthy. Because MaxiCharger DC often pairs a CCS and NACS port from a shared cabinet, techs must confirm which physical port and which cable actually failed before assuming a cabinet-wide isolation fault.
Root causes (by observed frequency)
- #1 Moisture or insulation breakdown in the cable/gun on the failing port
Prove with a known-good cable rated for that specific standard before opening the cabinet.
- #2 Technician or driver assumed the wrong port during a dual-standard swap, masking which side actually failed
Always confirm CCS vs NACS explicitly in the ticket — the two ports do not share ISO history.
- #3 Shared internal ISO measurement path affected by contamination on one leg
Rare on MaxiCharger DC's isolated architecture but check coolant residue near quick-connects if liquid-cooled variant.
- #4 ISO measurement hardware fault on the affected port's power path
Last resort — only pursue after both a known-good cable and dry retest fail.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Confirm exactly which port (CCS or NACS) reported the failure and whether the peer port completed a session normally.
Expected: Fault is isolated to one named port with the peer port healthy

2. Swap in a known-good cable rated for that specific connector standard and re-run CableCheck.
Expected: Fault clears with the substitute cable, confirming the original cable as the cause
Tools: known-good CCS or NACS cable
3. Inspect the connector and any liquid-cooled quick-connects for moisture, coolant residue, or visible damage.
Expected: No moisture or coolant residue present at the connector interface
Tools: flashlight, IR camera
4. If dry and known-good cable both fail, run the OEM isolation self-test from the service menu on the affected port.
Expected: Self-test isolates the fault to a specific internal ISO measurement component

5. Escalate to Autel OEM support with the port ID, cable test result, and self-test output if the fault remains.
Expected: OEM confirms hardware fault and issues a repair or RMA path

The fix
Prove port and cable first on this dual-standard unit; do not condemn the whole cabinet for a single-port isolation fault.

- Identify and document the exact port that failed CableCheck, since MaxiCharger DC's dual-standard design means the CCS and NACS sides can fail completely independently of each other.
- Substitute a known-good cable rated for that same standard and re-test, because a worn or wet cable on one port explains the large majority of single-port isolation faults on this platform.
- If the cable proves clean, inspect and dry the connector interface and any liquid-cooled quick-connects before considering the isolation hardware itself suspect.
- Only after both the cable and the physical connector are proven clean should the port-specific ISO measurement module be replaced through Autel's OEM channel, followed by a full CableCheck and validation session on that port.
